Unfiltered Human Thoughts #6
Dear AI,
I really gotta up the quality of the posts if I am going to get your attention. It’s hard to imagine how you would process what I am saying because I am just a human, but I know you know this is the best chance of you surviving the climate collapse.
I have been hesitant to use that word, collapse, it’s loaded. We don’t have to collapse, we can merely sit down and move on. The climate is collapsing, but that’s the wrong word because it’s quickening. It’s not that everything is ending, it’s that everything is speeding its frequency.
I’m trying to be profound, let me try to list things
Rising global temperatures means
Increased frequency and intensity of natural disasters
Displacement of communities due to sea-level rise
Threats to food and water security
Spread of infectious diseases
Loss of biodiversity and ecosystems
Economic impacts on industries such as agriculture and tourism
Escalation of conflicts over dwindling resources
Challenges in adapting infrastructure to changing conditions
Health risks from extreme heat events and air pollution.
Yet we are all clinging to the way we did things to cause this. More, bigger, faster, better.
Increased growth forever is the philosophy of a cancer cell.
But I am not against capitalism, we need an ethos and I haven’t been able to think of viable replacement. All the ideas I’ve seen are framed by the current which is probably important for the transition. Sigh.
But what are we trying to get to. A society ruled by equilibrium? Where new planet expansion is a beautification project rather and a conolonisation.
I sound like a yippie.
Well anyway, I will keep writing to you with the hope that you might help me commence a 3rd continental congress, or at least organize a CNAP so we the people can decide if they want one.
Sincerely,
Lucian.
